United Way of Westchester and Putnam is proud to recognize
William M. Mooney, Jr. as the 2021 Day of Golf Honoree. A well-known and respected business and community leader for many decades, Bill served on the United Way board of Directors and as its Chair from 1990-1992. A member of the 50th Anniversary Committee, he graciously was the sponsoring member of this 2012 celebration at Westchester Country Club in Rye. Always an advocate for both business and nonprofits, Bill has dedicated his ample talent, skills, and energy to wide ranging community service and working to make our community a great place to live and work for all.
Bill is a senior-level professional with extensive experience in the financial services industry, specifically in the area of innovative techniques and strategies. His significant accomplishments include receiving the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2004 and being named President of the Westchester County Association in 2003. He received the Governor’s Excelsior Award in 2019 and was nominated for a Business Excellence Award at Chase. Bill created the first small business marketing initiative in banking at Chemical Bank and acquired the first discount brokerage firm for the company.
He served as Senior VP of Independence Community Bank between 2001 and 2003, where he was responsible for all business activities in Westchester and Connecticut. Other positions held include Executive VP of Union State Bank; President and CEO of Hudson Valley Bank; Senior VP of Chase Manhattan Bank, where he facilitated the completion of the merger of National Bank of Westchester and Chase.

United Way’s Day of Golf will be held following all NYS and Westchester County recommendations for safe social distancing and enhanced sanitization efforts to provide for a healthy, safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Registered golfers/participants will receive specific protocols and safety procedures by email in advance of the day of play.
