Tax preparation assistance volunteers needed!
United Way of Westchester and Putnam is recruiting volunteers to assist with tax preparation during the upcoming tax season. Below is a list of tax preparation volunteer positions. All positions help to ensure that everyone using this service will get the maximum refund possible.
1.) Tax Counselor (Putnam). We are encouraging volunteers to prioritize this position. Tax Counselors will help prepare taxes for clients and are vital in ensuring clients receive the entirety of their refund. Volunteers will need previous experience in doing taxes, even if it is just doing your own personal taxes. Volunteers will be needed 4-8 hours a week during tax season and will need to complete 36 hours of training class and pass an IRS test.
2.) Client Facilitator (Putnam). This position will ensure that clients have all of the necessary paperwork to meet with Tax Counselors. You will also manage the flow of clients through the site. Volunteers will be needed for 4-8 hours a week during tax season from mid-January to mid-April
3.) Appointment Specialist (Remote). We need volunteers to assist with scheduling appointments for clients looking for tax help. Volunteers will work remotely for this position. Volunteers will need to attend a one-hour orientation and volunteer for a few hours a week during tax season.
4) 2-1-1 Call Assistant (White Plains). We are looking for volunteers to assist the United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s 2-1-1 during tax season. This position is very similar to the Appointment Specialist but will be an in-person opportunity at UWWP office. Volunteers will receive two hours of on-site training.
