UNITED, we can change lives. You could assist United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) in providing resources to support community needs while building the skills you need for future success.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA, you have the power to make a significant impact on the lives of others in our local community.

VISTA members will build the capacity and expand programming in our food security initiatives, including the 211 Helpline Resource Database, the Ride United Last Mile Delivery Program, Double Up Food Bucks, and external partnerships.

These programs strive to increase food security for low-income residents, including the “working poor,” by empowering individuals with access to resources and knowledge.

The employee culture at UWWP strives to be fun and focuses on service, kindness, and resourcefulness. Being a VISTA member is an excellent opportunity for someone to join a small, collaborative, and supportive team, working intelligently and diligently. A successful VISTA candidate is flexible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and emotionally intelligent.

As a result of the VISTA members’ efforts, UWWP will better understand the food security needs in Westchester and Putnam communities. With your help, we will transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and families in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

UWWP offers ongoing technical training and support provided in-house, mainly by the Chief Impact Officer and the Director of Community Impact. The VISTA will also be directed and encouraged to seek out additional opportunities for professional development to enhance their role, including capacity-building training and webinars offered by external organizations.
