350 Students Participate in April Break Camp

Spring Break is a popular time for children to relax and take a break from the rigorous school calendar. Unfortunately, it is also a time for parents to worry over the limited options available for their families when schools are closed but work is not. United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s Education United program hosted April Break Camp this school year to combat the challenges families face when children are not in school, targeting food insecurity, literacy, and adult supervision.

April Break Camp served 350 students this year! The program was held April 14 – April 17, 2025, and was free for students in grades 1-5 from the Greenburgh, Ossining, Tarrytown School Districts. The week was filled with STEM, art, fitness, and other enriching activities. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks were provided. Free Lyft rides were also available to parents and caregivers to drop off and pick up their children, courtesy of United Way’s Ride United Program.

April Break Camp proves that learning and fun does not have to stop once the school day ends. The Education United Program serves 600 students each school year.
