$10,000 in Diapers Distributed to Westchester Families in Need

The United Way of Westchester and Putnam partnered with 914 Cares and the Child Care Council of Westchester to distribute $10,000 worth of diapers to economically disadvantaged families in Yonkers, New Rochelle, Port Chester, and others. United Way of Westchester and Putnam was able to leverage the diapers through a grant from CVS Health.
Diapers are an expensive need for families that are going through financial hardships. Plus, the actual supply levels in our communities are limited. It is important that people who wear diapers have them changed regularly. The infrequent changing of these personal care items can lead to negative health outcomes, such as rashes and urinary tract infections, not to mention discomfort and distress.
“I just needed to reiterate how much the United Way of Westchester and Putnam helped – yesterday we distributed over 20,000 diapers and we went back today to distribute more,” said 914 Cares Chairwoman Jessica Reinmann.
