United Way of Westchester and Putnam was honored to attend the African American Men of Westchester‘s 25th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Youth Awards Luncheon. This was an inspiring event honoring young leaders who are carrying forward Dr. King’s vision.
United Way President and CEO Tom Gabriel presented the Social Justice Award to Wyatt Bland from The Harvey School. Wyatt is an exceptional scholar, athlete, and emerging entrepreneur whose leadership and commitment to equality reflect the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As a mentor, tutor, and school ambassador, Wyatt works intentionally to expand educational access for families of color and bridge opportunity gaps within independent school spaces. His dedication to inclusion, particularly in STEM, and his belief in coalition-building and shared progress demonstrate his commitment to creating a Beloved Community through action, character, and purpose-driven leadership.
United Way’s partnership with the African American Men of Westchester spans more than two decades, supporting their scholarship program and their vital work in our community. This year, we were proud to provide AAMW with a Capacity Building Grant, strengthening their ability to continue empowering young leaders and creating pathways to success.
