United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s Nonprofit Leadership Summit 2020 will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 4, at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown.
The theme for this year’s Summit is “Preparing for the success of tomorrow begins with embracing equity today.” Our goal is to encourage diversity and inclusion as core values throughout the operations, programs, and leadership of all organizations in the nonprofit sector.
Both breakfast and lunch keynote speakers will focus on this theme, while each workshop will incorporate the theme within the subject matter presented. Starting the day off, Richard Brown, Vice President of Philanthropy at American Express, will talk about the importance of diversifying the current landscape of nonprofit leaders and transforming an organization’s capacity to attract, develop and retain leadership talent. Sean Thomas-Breitfield, co-director of the Building Movement Project and co-author of the Race to Lead Report, will be the lunch keynote speaker. He will address the nonprofit racial leadership gap.
There are two workshop sessions. The morning session runs from 10 -11:30 a.m. The afternoon session runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
As in the past, we are soliciting workshop proposals and the Summit Planning Committee will be proactive in identifying and soliciting proposals from qualified experts to conduct 90-minute workshops. The Committee has identified potential workshop “areas of interest” and we are asking presenters to identify a specific topic within the selected “workshop area” to deliver a lively and interactive session.
Please see the areas of interest listed below. If you wish to be considered, please complete the form by below Friday, Feb. 21st at 5 p.m.
