United Way Tocqueville Society of Westchester and Putnam
The United Way Tocqueville Society is a leadership giving and recognition program that was established locally in 1988. The Society, created by United Way of America in 1972, was founded in honor of Alexis de Tocqueville, the French historian, who wrote passionately about the American spirit of voluntarism for the common good. The Society fosters, promotes and recognizes the vital importance of personal giving at an exceptional level. Membership allows caring individuals to affirm their deep commitment to address critical community needs. The example set by these extraordinary people, in the spirit expressed by Tocqueville, has had, and will continue to have a profound affect on the quality of life for others. We applaud these individuals for their foresight, dedication and generosity.
