Senior Vice President of Resource Development
United Way of Westchester and Putnam seeks a highly accomplished, creative and energetic Senior Vice President of Resource Development to expand and strengthen its resources under management. He/she will execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to further the mission and programs of United Way. The ideal candidate will be an experienced mentor who can provide vision and motivation for the resource development department and who has proven success securing and increasing revenue from multiple sources.
The Senior VP of Resource Development will develop an external presence within the corporate community and the community at large and is responsible for developing paid staff and volunteers to grow overall financial resources for the organization. This position reports directly to the President and CEO and is a member of the Senior Management Team.
Responsibilities
- Create, develop and manage an effective team of up to 10 staff to raise resources from corporations, employees, and individuals.
- Secure major corporate, individual, and foundation gifts and sponsorships.
- Develop and cultivate relationships with key volunteers, business leaders, individual major donors, and corporate contribution officers.
- Oversee successful implementation of a full calendar of fundraising events targeting diverse constituencies.
- As a member of the Senior Management team collaborate with other senior managers and the President and CEO to deliver on organizational strategies to increase the presence and impact of United Way as well as grow overall revenues.
- Create comprehensive strategies to recruit and develop an adequate and diverse pool of effective volunteer leaders to support the resource development functions.
- Work closely with the communications staff to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to broaden public awareness, donor affinity and message effectiveness.
- Participate in the development of the organization’s budget and provide appropriate oversight of the resource developmental department budget.
- Keep abreast of current economic, political, legislative, technical, and general community and business trends that may affect the organization and its relationships in the community. Recommend appropriate organizational responses to conditions.
- Evaluate and refine information capture systems, procedures for reporting, internal reporting systems, donor acknowledgements, tracking, and data mining systems. Continually evaluate resources and systems that support the accurate capture and management of information to further the mission of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum five years experience of successful executive-level fund raising experience and a history of increasing responsibilities in a fundraising capacity
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) skills and experience utilizing fundraising software
- Prior supervisory experience and ability to mentor and train staff in the fundamentals of fundraising
- A passion for improving the overall health and well being of the community
- Capacity to work weekend or evening hours and travel within Westchester and Putnam counties
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
