DOWNLOAD LETTER OF INTENT

Thank you for LIVING UNITED by attending United Way's Income Forum.  If you did not attend, you can still be part of the process:

Nearly 100 top experts in income and financial literacy worked together to make United Way's first Income Forum an unequivocal success. By examining data indicators, contributing factors and root causes, participants helped to create strategies that will meet a series of measurable income goals over time. They include:

  • Individuals in Westchester will be able to adapt to changing employment opportunities
  • Individuals and families in Westchester will have adequate income to meet their basic needs
  • Individuals and families in Westchester will gain and sustain assets that lead towards financial independence

No one organization alone can address the multi-layered components contributing to some of our residents' lack of financial stability. That is why United Way will be seeking to create collaborative initiatives with potential partners all working towards a common goal - to move the needle on residents' ability to acquire, maintain and grow income that contributes to their financial stability. Results will be measurable.

We thank you for so willingly sharing your expertise and time at the Income Forum, and for contributing strategies that can be worked on as a community and that ultimately take us to our shared education goals.  We invite you to watch Naomi Adler's presentation explaining next steps, and welcome you to submit a letter of intent (see below) to partner with us on these important education initiatives, due Sepember 9, 2009.

Instructions for Letter of Intent
(please read carefully)

All organizations requesting funding for 2009-2010 must complete the Letter of Intent.  For more information about this process and this form, please listen to the web presentation.

This form must be submitted in electronic form as well as via hard copy (with original signatures).
Electronic submissions must be sent to letterofintent@uwwp.org.

In addition to the e-mail submission, submit one (1) original hard copy version by 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2009  to:

Mary Ann Luna, Vice President for Community Alliances
United Way of Westchester and Putnam
336 Central Park Avenue
White Plains, NY  10606

Email and hard copy must be received by UWWP by Wednesday, September 9 at 4 pm. Extensions will be granted for the e-mail version only – hard copy must be in our office by 4pm on September 9.

Please complete a separate Letter of Intent for each program for which you are requesting funding.  If this is a collaborative effort, you may submit one letter on behalf of others; however, all of the organizations who are submitting under one letter must “sign off” on one original letter of intent. The organization that submits the letter for a collaborative will be considered the “lead agency” responsible for communicating any questions or meeting information to all of the members of their collaborative.  The next step of this process involves personal meetings with agencies selected. Agencies will be notified by email and asked to meet with United Way staff and volunteers by the end of September of 2009.
