Westchester Emergency Food And Shelter Program (EFSP) Memorandum
To: Westchester Agencies providing Emergency Food and/or Shelter
From: Naomi Adler, Esq., Chair
Westchester Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board
Mary Ann Luna, Staff Director
Subject: Application Process for Phase 28 EFSP Funds
Date: October 29, 2009
The Westchester Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board is currently requesting applications for Phase 28 (Fiscal Year 2009-2010) funding under the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP). This program provides federal funding to help extend currently available services for the hungry and homeless.
The National EFSP Board, which coordinates the overall program, has not yet announced the level of funding to be awarded to Westchester. It is anticipated that this announcement will be made shortly. Even so, the Westchester Board encourages eligible government and private voluntary organizations, which meet the program criteria, to apply. This early application process will give our local Board sufficient time to determine where EFSP funding can be best utilized and allow funds to begin to flow shortly after the appropriation for Westchester is known.
Click here for the form explaining the eligibility criteria for EFSP funding as well as the responsibilities each agency must assume if funded as well as a list of examples of eligible and ineligible costs under the program. Please review this information before filling out the application and the one-page application summary form to make sure you are eligible for funding and can use the funds appropriately.
If you believe you meet the criteria and can make appropriate use of EFSP funding, please fill out the 1) application and 2) the application summary form, and return them no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 to:
